Some time ago John , McCreary
and Dan Brow n, both colored, had some
trouble about their wives and dogs,
and John struck Dan’s better half. On
Friday the aforesaid husband* met and
alter passing some words Dan proceed
ed to carve John, indicting three
wounds with his pocket kniie. Dan
was arrested and lodged in the guard
house, and the doctors reporting his
victim in a critical conoitiou he was
lodged in jail to wait results.

land jail on Friday* when it was evi

their meeting on the 2nd day of June
next * petition asking that the road
from Elko to the old Charleston road,
commencing at Mr M. Willis’s mill
road and running through Mr Joseph
Phillips’s place, passing hi* residence,
be declared a Public Road.
All persona objecting are notified to
appear before th* Board oh the date
above named.
If no objection be made and the right
of way be granted th* said road will be
declared a highway.
