Your correspondent had the pleasure
of attending a pic nic last Saturday at
Mr. Frank Kearse’s near Buford’s
Bridge. .Yo people are- more hospi-
lable and kind than they, and to attend
a pic nlc there is a genuine pleasure.
Among other visitors we were glad to
recognize the pleasing countenance of
Dr. Reuben C, Kirkland, of your vil
lage who seemed to ho in the “zenith

In the political affairs of our country,
when good and true men are‘so much
needed, his death is a calamity indeed.
Comparatively speaking, we have few-
suph men as W. R. Boynton—striving
earnestly to forward everything to im
prove and benefit the world.
As far as his influence was felt to the
same extent his death will be found to
be a sad misfortune. As a citizen, as a
Christian, as a neighbor, friend and in
all the relations he bore to others, he so

loses an efficient officer and one of its
most earnest and useful supporters.

what a loss has been sustained in the
death of this good and noble man. Of
course tills attliction falls heaviest up>u
his worthy and devoted wife and chil
dren, with whom many friends wajrtnly
and tenderly sympathize.

Julian Gounts is dead! It is hard for
us to realize it, hut it is so, for we have
stood by his new-made grave. Seldom
has life opened brighter than it did be

enjoyed advantages for an education in
one of the best college# of the South—
Richmond College, Va.—and above all
being singularly fortunate and blest itv
the choice of her, who gave him her
heart with all its love and devotion, his
future seemed full, of promise and of
hope. But alas ! his sun has gone down
while yet it was noon. I kupw him from
his boyhood, and ini paying this brief
and humble tribute to his memory, can

sincere, kind-hearted, and an honorable
