He has always been a Democrat “of the
most straltest sect,” but being mow a

longs to brother Shell’s wing of tbe
Democracy—I do wish that that day
that I climbed up Into the Indepeiulent
tree, and got such an awful fall, that
Che Alliance had been under It, like itis
now. It would have broken the vio
lence of the fall a great deal. Capt.
Deer, however, is something better than
a good I>erencrat—lie Is a good neigh

Ian—respected aud loved (test, by those
who know him best. Whoever has had
business dealings with him, w ill b ar

him. When he die*, which can’t be
many years hence, Barnwell County
will lose a citizen, the like of whom,
ala*! are none too many.
I have not written this for Captain
Deer’a good, but for the good of others.
He Is not a candidate, and this Is not a

always supported Ram well County, and
baa never asked bis fellow citizens to
support him for an ofllee. or in an office.
