Tbe dticuasiou was partid|wtixl in by
Messrs. Jones, McHweency, Drayton, Daw
son, Frince and dthers, and elicited a very
full expression of the views and experiences
of the members. The meeting, after hear
ing the treasurer’s report read by Major
Frauz Melchers, took a recess until J) o'clock
Friday morning. *
The Association met .at the armory of
the Washington Light Infantry at 9 o’clock
Friday. After the election of olbcers
and finishing up the busiui-ss, the member^
and their triends adjourned from the
armory to the Ferry wharf, where they em
barked on the steamer Pocosin, placed at
their disjwsal by the Xetr* and Courier
Company. The visitors were taken up the
Aabcly river to tlie new brtdge ( then down
to Sumter, and afterwards run up the
Cooper and Waudo rivers, getting a glance
at the picturesque scenery on the banks of
the Wando. The l*arty landed in the city
about 2 P. M., allowing the members pur
ticipating in the excursion to New York
abundant time to prepare for the trip. The
editor* saikxl ou the splendid steamship
Hetninolc, of the Clyde Line, which sailed
from Union wharf at 5.30 in the afternoon.
