(From the Atlanta ConoUtutibn.] The gorernor hae as yet received no ap plication for a requisition for F. A. Black wood, the much-fought-over forger who is now under arrest in Aiken county. South Carolina. It will be remembered that when Black wood's application for' a writ of habeas corpus was decided in his favor, Instead of being turned loose, he was placed upon South Carolina soil, hut, by a strange coin cidcnce, right within Teach of some South Carolina constables, who had warrants fur hisarrest. It wassupposed that immediately after his arrest application for a reouisition would be made by the Augusta authorities. But so far there arc no evidences of any such action. The decision of Judge Roney in this case seems to amuse a good many members of 1 the profession in Atlanta. They say Unit the only qiiesUon before the Court was the legality of the arrest of the prisoner, and tliat that question eould not have been made by tire prisoner. That has been the universal decision. So .Judge Roney must have released Uie prisoner Ireeause he-found that his arrest was illegal and that the sqv ereign—that is the Stale of South Carolina —was demanding his release. There is no law on the face of the earth to sustain him in this position. It is not comity nor ex tradition nor anything rise. But the most amusing fact connected with die whole affair was that Blackwood was not released. If entitled to his liberty he ought to httVe walked out of the court house a free man. But it seems that while declaring that he ought to he released, Ute judge did not re lease him, hut instead put him in custody of the sheriff to carry him buck to South (Jar olina.
