doctor’s first instructions were to “take

son never forgot this remedy, and he has

A night or two ago a gentleman living
near Sparkill had occasion at a late
hour to cross the stone bridge over the
Sparkill creek, when be encountered the
gnostly object which was on its nightly
round to frighten people. The man
picked up a good-sized stone and hurled
it at the object, striking him a pretty
hard blow. The spook became angered
and clinched witli the man. The gentle
man proved too muscular, however, for
the spectre and grasped it by the throat.

the house of Mr. Frank Beattie, who has
been ill for over a year, and in consequence
thereof is neVvous and excitable. * Having
gained admission into the house they were

luan who had sent them, since they came
wholly uninvited by the members of the
family. They replied that it was by the
order of Captain Yoder that they had come
to minfttrate unto the sick. Captain Yoder

were told that she was the leader of the
Salvation Army. The party were prompt
ly told that their ministrations were not
needed nor wanted, aud that they should
leave. They did not leave, however, uor

and told them to depart; that he was a
