Judson Peeples was found guilty of
resisting an officer and sentenced to six
months in flic penitentiary at hard labor.
Arthur Hearse, charged with the mur
der of Boze Copeland in 1885, was ac
quitted. It will lie remembered that
there was a mistrial in this case about
a year ago.
The whole of Saturday was consumed
in the trial of W. A. Owens, under in
dictment containing two counts; first,
assault and battery with intent to kill
and murder, and second, assault and
battery of a high and aggravated na
ture, was found guilty on the second
count and sentenced to five months im
prisonment in county jail and to pay a
fine of twenty-live dollars. ■
The Couit granted a new trial in the
case against Rufus Posey for stealing a
turkey; — ,
