The County Commissioners of Bern-
well County seem to be In a bad way
financially. By their report aa pub
lished In the Sentinel of tbe 4'b lost.,
most of the persons perfoimlng ser-
vices for the County were "not paid the
amount* of their claims and, we sup
pose, were compelled to sell them to
outside persons for such amounts aa
they could get. In a list of four hun
dred and eighty two daims, three hun
dred and forty-seven. If we counted
correctly, were paid to assignees. Such
tnaaegecneot, it seems to us, brings
loss upon those who worked for Barn
well County, by having to shave their
account*, and r« fleets n« credit on the
