reported as willing to surrender and

est soldier lu the Confederate Army.
He volunteered at Abbevide, S. C.,
dutiog the first week la Feb uary 1862,
in Co. K 2 i S. C. Rifies. He was 14
years old the 7th ddy of March follow
ing, which would thiik’? him j v ust 13
years 11 mouths old at the time he vol
unteered, He served thereafter
through the entire war and was lu all
the battles m which bis regimept was
engaged except one or two. He was
made a sergeant of his company dur
ing the first vest of his service. He
was wounded In the Darby town fight
near Richmond, and was captured at x
Boousborongh, Md., after which he
was imprisoned forriwo months In Jort
Delaware. He is still youthful and
handsome, And brave enough to meet
and discharge every duty.
