Feeling it due to my constituents of
the ‘Jnd circuit, who have over proren
themselves kind and considerate to me,
that they should kuow of my wherea*
bouts and eoudilion, now that the courts
o n my circuit have commenced, at which
in the disc barge of my duties to th«m 1

have missed only one court for eight years
(bciug sick) and during that time I ouly
remember to have been called into court

Court House going to it, and the Judge,
by bis own watch, wr< five minutes

mention to show that I feel that my
triends ^ccl, and know, that necessity>
and not choice, keeps me from my post
view, as I am so much reduced, (having
fallen of! at least fifty pounds) which the
stoitom say was only from being worn
outou the circuit last full with the cam
paign duties on mo at the same time.—
As I have had little or no fover and very
little pain, and yet em so much weaken
ed by the attacks upon my digegtiouaud
.appetite that I could not possibly in jus*
tieo to the State or myself undertake the
business at this term, as no one knows
better from experience thun myself that
it requires the strength of a man in full
health to do justice to, without assist’
ance, which only three hundred dollars

my case one county having been added to

however, glad to say that having been
here for over a month, where I can drink
either sulphur or iron water as I think
I need them, I have for the past two
weeks began slowly to improve and hope
that by staying until frost (a* my pby

recover my strength that I, may be able
to return to duty with my usual health
and vigor, until which tim^I must ask
the Indulgence of my friends, as what
can't be cured must be endured. 1 have

time for my letter to meet him at the
court I hero, expressing my regret at not
being able to be with lum, and that if I
got able before the end of the circuit,

could not get up the Court House steps

sembly of people. After a few raps by
the chairman he stated briefly the. ob

ber of old Co. C., F. H. Creech, who will
now address you.
Gipt, Creech came forward and ad
dressed the audience In a very elo
quent speech.
After tbe conclusion of tbe address
of Capt. Creech many were the compli
ments and congratulations he received.
The address, as near as 1 could learn,
represented the true seiiumeut of all
present, that the war is over and our

Ex Governor Hngood, the first Col
onel of the lit 8.1’. Volunteers, was
then Introduced, lie alluded bihily

swerving devotion of the ladles, call
ing theta the commissariats of the
South, anti chwe.i 4>y saying, “If It

honorably ns did their predecessors.”
The old Colonel was heartily cheered.
Hls presence added a great deal to the
Interest manifested und the success of
the tvimion.
At tbe close of Gen. Hagood’s re-

we would again turn over to the ladies
and make them commissariats oa this
occasion, which was done, and in a
very short time a bountiful table was
spread-with
substantials and luxuries of life os it
