Death In - the Daiiii —TriH Justice Dun
bar, m-ling as Coroner, held an Inquest on
Saturday on the dead body of Stephen Hra-
boy, colored, on the plantation of Rev. P
J. iliers, in Bennett Springs township. The
evidence showed th it there was a party at
the house of K >se HuZ.d on the night of
the 30ih ult. which tlie deceased and oth
ers attended. Decease 1 and a M h-no stop
ped on their way home to wait fot a crowd
behind -them. hen It c.nne up James
Beck and James Braboy were quarreling
aliout a daiioo. Deceased got off the fence,
took James Brabo^'s pai t and engige«lin
a tt^ht with James Heck, knocking him
down and beating him. The tight was soon
over and t-e party pnuceeded homeward.
About thirty-five minutes afterward de-
eeaswt asked who had cut him; said he
felt bloixi in his sh's^s. Nobody knew.—
None of them had seen a knife. Dr. M. A.
I ni nes was s< nt for and dressed his wound
the next day. Deceased udd liim Ire did
not know who cut hi:u. He dio.1 on Fri
day. The jury found tfiat he “was klllerl
and.murdered hy a wound inflicted hi the
back with a knife In the hands of some
person to the jurors unknown."
On Tuesday warrants were taken out be
fore Justice A. H. Patterson for the arrest
of James and Judsou Beck upon the affida
vit of a kinsman of the deceased.
