here to-day. Mr. Turner, as the local

covered that just thirteen preachers

the evening train brought in the un
fortunate number of preachers, headed
by the Rev. Mr. Parke, the presiding
elder, Mr. Turner was missing. Four
hundred men searched the woods for
him. One party got on his trail pn the
road to Stoue Mountain. He was
walking with a brisk step. The pur
suit in that direction was kept up. At
10 o’clock this morning Mr. Almun, one
of tho couriers, returned from Stone
Mountain with the news of tho tragedy.
Mr. Turner arrived there at 8 last
night and secured a room in the Prltcb-
dtt Hotel. At 1 o’clock tills morning
groaning was beard, snd the preacher
tras found dying, ‘I want to die/ he
pleaded. T have taken strychnine.
Life is not worth living. Tell my wife
that I have DO time to give details.’
