National 4-H Club
Week, March 4-12
All Over Country
The week of March 4-12 will be
National 4-H Club Week. During
this week In thousands of counties,
towns end rural communities
throughout the nation, special at
tention will focus bn the splendid
work 4-H club members are doing
under the leadership of extension
workers and voluntary local lead
ers. In South Carolina many spec
ial features are being planned for
the week by local county extension
workers and 4-H club leaders. •

According to the latest reports,

waa established in that over 74
per cent of the members enrolled
completed their project work In
farming or homemuking. Through
these 4-H club projects and other
club activities 4-H ' club members
produced and conserved food;
made thdir homes more attractive
and livable; made their homes and
heme farms more efficient and
profitable; improved their own
health and cooperated in improv
ing health conditions in their
homes and communities; worked
as responsible ottbens to Improve
their own communities,, and gained
a better understanding of their re
sponsibilities in the world of to
day.
A new high record was also
established tor 4-H. club work In
South Carolina in 1*49 in that the
total elate enrollment reached a
high of 48,732 boys and girls, an
Increase of 16,000 within the past
five years. While the final per
cent Of project completions la this
state for 1949 has not yet been
determined, it will likely also'

the interest of Veterans Hospital
Programs.

local volunteer 4-H club leaders
for helping to attain these new
records. A goal of att.least 50,000

extension workers and 4-H club

Veterans Hospital Programs,

traveling entertainers, is a non
profit organization, now in its
fourth year of continuous ope
ration. It holds as its purpose
taking inspirational entertainment
into the veterans hospitals, and
presenting bedside radios to the
wounded men. The entire work
is carried on in the name of, and
on behalf of, the Protestant
Churches of America.
