The Midway High eager*, both
boys and girls, continue on their
winning ways and look certain to
be top notchers in the Fifth Dis
trict tournament at Baron DeKalb
school next month.
In the game with Blsney last
week, Midway girls won 59 to 13
and die boys took their fame, 39
to 11
On Jan. 20, the Midway teams
invaded Jefferson and won both
game, the girls by 40 to 34 and
the boys, 29 to 24. It was the best
r es of the season so far and
playing was even up in both
games from start to finish.

best players in the nation. Preece
is another No. 1 star.
The Asheville Tourists will
lineup with Fred and Eddie Te-
jan, Art Christian and Carl
Lightfoot. With the exception of
Christian, all are Camden resi
dents and all have played to
gether at Asheville last summer.
Because of Ole lengthening the High school gymnasium

last Sunday that games will
start at 3:30 o'clock instead of 3.

Tourney Begins

Women Golfers' Associa
tion, will gather in 'Camden on
Tuesday, Jan. 31 to participate
in the state tournament that will
be held oh the Camden Country
Club course.
Camden was host to this same
group last year and there were
78 entries who took part in the
18-hole handicap event This
number will probably be exeeded
this year since the organization
has shown a marked increase in
membership during the past year.
Members of the women’s unit
of the Camden club will be host
esses to the visiting women the
day of the tournament.
The Camden $1*000 Open Golf
tournament, sponsored and di
rected by the Camden Country
Club, wul be held on the local
course during the first week in
March. Last year this event drew
golfers from all over the south
eastern part of the country with
entries being listed from the two
Carolinas, Georgia, Florida and
Virginia.

His departure from Camden
will be deeply regretted by all of
the basketball and baseball fans.

with the invaders leading 32 to 29
at half time. At three-quarter time
it was 48 to 44 but in the final
quarter the visitora drew away.
Foster was high scorer of the
game with D. Dean second with
21. Other Myrtle Beach scores
were made by Harpes with 3, Jor
dan with 4, Cribb with 7, and Luke
with 10.
For Camden Huggins was high
with 16, Wilson had 15, Barmer 14,
