WSCS Gives Surprise ^
Dinner For Mrs. White
The Woman's Society ot Chrls-

Methodist church entertained with
a supper meeting on Tuesday even
ing, Jan. !•» in Wimberly Hall at
7 o’clock.
The long banquet tables were
covered with white cloths and were
centered with low arrangements of
assorted camellias and flowering
iaponica. White tapers In low
holders were need along the tables
and double crystal candelabra with
burning tapers graced the piano.
Blue delphinelum, narcissus and
white chrysanthemums were used
elsewhere In the room.
Tbs mooting was held at this
boor as a surprise party for Mrs.
Ralph R. White, president of the
W.S.C.S. who, with Mr. White and
thei rson, Riggie, will leave Cam
den sometime this month to re
turn to their former home In
Greensboro, N. C.
Mrs. White’s place at the table
was marked with a corsage of
white carnations and at the end
of supper, Mrs. Hubert L. Spell
presented her with an electric per
culator as a farewell gift from the
society.
Appropriate talks were made by
Mrs. Spell and Mrs. White, and
the program was presented by Mrs
B. O. Boykin.
A delicious supper was served
by a committee composed of circle
leaders and their assistants to the
70 persons attending.
Mrs. D. C. Hinson was s special
guest.

Mrs. Nelle Hoffman and Miss Ce-

the Junior League of Columbia
In celebration of the 28th anni
versary of admtsdkm of the Junior
League of Columbia to the Asso
ciation of Junior Leagues of
America.
Magnolia leaves, white .flowers
and silver candelabra holding long
white tapers, were used through
out the rooms of the spacious
house.
In the dining room the table was
covered with a white Italia* Use* j
and lace bouquet cloth. The table
was centered by a large silver
bowl fUled with white lilies, roses
and snapdragons flanked by silver
candelabra holding white candles
and silver compotes tilled wiih
green and white mints.
Coffee was served in the music
room. The coffee table was cover
ed with an Imported organdy Moth
and centered with a silver wine
cooler holding a large arrangement
of white flowers. On elthar end
of the table were placed’ beatatitul
silver services. *
A four piece string ensemble
played softly during the evening.
As part of the League’s celebra
tion, a history of the Columbia
Junior League, written by Mrs.
Arthur St. J. Simons, Juis been
published. These hooks, bound in
sUver, were presented to the
guests as gifts. Each League mem
ber for the 2S years was mentioned
in the boojt with their present ad
dress and occupation.
Eleven hundred guests were in
vited which included all past and
present League members with their
husbands or escorts. Mr. and Mrs.
Ed Craig (Lillie Henderson) of
Camden, were among those pres
ent, Mrs. Craig being an active
member of the Columbia Junior
League.'
