Three thousand forest tree seed
lings will be available free of
charge to South Carolina land-
owners desiring them this year,
according to a statement by the
South Carolina State Commission
of Forestry. The number has been
changed from 5,000 to 3,000 by
legislative act
E. B. Price, assistant state for
ester, said that seedling orders
were pouring in and that it is al
ways a good idea for any one de
siring seedlings to get his order in
early, as the seedings are always
distributed on a “find come, first
served basis.”
Mr. Price explained that any
landowner in the state is entitled
to 3,000 seedings free of charge,
if they are picked up at the For
estry Commission’s Nursery at
Wedgefield. If they are shipped to
the landowner, there will be a
charge of 50c per thousand seed
lings. If a landowner desires more
than 3,000 seedlings, there is a
charge of $2.50 per thousand seed
lings if they are picked up at
the nursery, or $3 per thousand if
they are snipped.
