Thi Christian Rural Overseas Program is a “gifts-in-kind" pro gram through which farmers can give the products of their farms for relief distribution oversets. However, only those products which can be collected in large bulk quantities wiU be coUected. Each county will be asked to de cide what commodities it will col lect The needs which CROP helps to meet aye so great that the United States government is pay ing the ocear-freight on all CROP commodities. Our government can do this because CROP is an inter church sponsored agency (Church World Service for moat Protestant denominations, Lutheran World Relict and CathoUc Rural Life) and also because the products will be distributed by any religious agency which the individual don or designates. The United States government can thus aid the CROP program because it repre sents the overseas relief interests of aU denominations and discrim inates against none. E. H. The emphasis is now on accuracy landings and stall recognition; the theory be ing that you can’t spin a plane un til you fiixt stall it This, of course, is correct. Did you know that CAA will not license a personal plane type if it requires more than one one- half turns to recover from a spin unaided? I didn’t know it either, until today when I learned that a certain new plane was refused a certificate because it requires two one-half turns to recover unaided. This makes you wonder why there are any stall-spin accidents. Here’s why; 1. Pilots flying so low they haven’t enough altitude to stall the plane, spin it, and recover. It takes at least/two hundred feet in most plan 1 They enter the stall In the first place because of incorrect thinking. Theythink the plane Will definitely clmb when they pull back on the stick. (Actually the stick is the speed control. Pulling back on it slows the plane down. You stall the plane when you slow it down below its fly ing speed. 3. After they stall the plane they enter the spin by attempting to turn with rudder. H. Haile, Miss Patricia Haile and Miss Eurelee Bowers of Heath Springs. Misses Elizabeth, Lai and Mar ion Richards accompanied the A. J. Richards family of Heath Springs to the All-Star football game in Columbia on Wednesday night A. J. Richards. Jr. was on the team but was unable to take part on account of a sprained ankle. Miss Sophie Richards, who has had charge of the Fellowship Hall cafeteria at Montreat, N. C., re turned home on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Hillard and Miss Barbara Hilliard of Ker shaw were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. Abe Hilton on Sunday. They were accompanied home by Miss Shirley Hilton, who stayed over for a visit Lawrence Hammond, R. H. Hammond and son of Greenville were guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Hilton on Friday night W. Z. Miss Margaret Jones, Mrs. Charles Robinson and children of Rock Hill were Uberty Hill visi tors cm Wednesday. Misses Lai and Marion Richards visited Mr and Mrs. J. P. Rich ards in Kershaw and Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Richards in Heath Springs on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Williams of Camden spent Thursday with Rev. and Mrs. Drennan. Miss Brooks Williams, who has been visiting her grandparents, returned home with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Higgins and little daughter, Catherine, of Greet Falls, visited Mr. and Mrs. K. S.
