Directors of the Camden Na
tional Farm Loan Association met
with an official of the Federal
Land Bank he$e on Wednesday
for the purpoae of reviewing past
year's operation* and outlining a
program for the coming vear. One
of tee major actions taken was
the adoption of a contract between
the association and the bank cov
ering the making and servicing of
Federal land bank loans in this
territory during the coming year.
Under tee new contract the as
sociation will have an opportunity
to further build up its reserve
*nd surplus based on the number
and amount of loans made and
serviced during the fiscal year
which began July 1.
T. C Melton, vice president of
the gsMdaUon, presided at the
meeting. The new service con
tract between the association and
the bank is the best one ever de
vised," Mr. Melton said. “It places
more responsibility on the direc
tors and at the same time provides
greater incentive to build the as
sociation into a stronger farmer-
owned credit cooperative.”
The new

active manager of the association
in the capacity of secretary-treas
urer, presoxted reports on past
year's operations which showed
that the association had a success-
ear‘with $847.09 added to re-
rve and surplus. ,
According to Mr. Bradham,
Federal land bdhk loans made
through his office during the fis
cal vear ending June 30, 1949,
totaled approximately $100,000.00,
which was slightly more than the
previous year. More than half of
these loans were for the purpose
of refinancing existing debts us
ually at lower rates of interest and
longer terms. The balance were
for the purchase and improvement
of farms, to buy machinery, live
stock, and for educational pur
poses.
Other directors attending the
eeting were: C. P. DuBose, Jr,
L. J. Whitaker, J. P. Isenhower,
W. J. Davidson and W. R. Eddins.
