The Camden Chiefs developed a hit-and-run tendency
in the ninth inning of the Hartsville-Camden, game at
Hartsville MoggUy nlght. ;1
Trailing 8 to 3 at the beginning of the nihth the
Ohiefs pounded out five runs in that inning to tie up
tho game in a knot and continuing the spree in tKe tenth
inning ponnded out seven more runs, winning by a score
of 15 to 8.
Hartsville used five pitchers in
an effort to atop the onslaught,
Bledsoe, McAlamey, Tyson, Chap
man and Harvin. Camden used
four hurlers, Shealy, Seif, Grugan.
and Scorz, who got credit for
winning the game.
Chino Bernal hit one of the
longest home runs of the season.
Joe Socey had four safeties in six
trips to the bat. He hit a homer
but like Fred Merkle of New York
Giants fame failed to touch third
base.
It was a good game of ball until
the fifth inning, both Shealy and
Bledsoe pitching good ball.
In other games in the league
Monday night Georgetown beat
Myrtle Beach 6 to 2 behind the
four-hit pitching of Norman
Chandler and Lake City beat
Kings tree 3 to 2. The Orangeburg-

Friday Night Games
The Chiefs fattened their bat
ting marks Friday night by poling
14 nits off the slants of two
Myrtle Beach chunkers, winning
by a score of 13 to 2.
There was a plentitude of home
runs, Bernal and Socey rapping
for the, round trip with runners
on the "paths, for Camden, while
Beard laced a loner out of the
park to score one of the Caps two
markers.
Johnson and Socey led in the
offensive, each listing four hits
out of five trips to the plate.
Johnston, checked a double and
three singles and Socey a homer
with three singles. For the visi
tors, Petosky and McKeithan each
had two for four, both being
angles for each.
Tnt Chiefs came over with their
usual chain-lightning double [day,
this time in the sixth when with
runners on second and third and
one out, Gorganus grounded to
Tucker, who tossed to Fourts who
in turn made a beautiful peg to
Johnston to complete the retire
ment act for the visitors for the
round.
In other Friday night games in
the Palmetto loop, Hartsville de
feated Fort Jackson 4 to 0 be
hind the six-hit pitching of Mc-
Alarney, while Orangeburg beat
Kingstroe 2 to 1 in a pitching duel
between Bob Howe aind Dale Liv

the Braves win.
