ed a Block X” at a ceremony held
at The Citadel, the military col
lege of South Carolina, June 1, in
recognition of his having played
on the varsity football team in
1848. Mr. Gregory, who entered
The Citadel in September, 1848,
as a veteran student, is majoring
in business administration.

Funeral services were held here
Sunday afternoon for Mrs. Sarah
Doby Kennedy Winkler, promin
ent native of Camden, who died
Saturday afternoon in New York
City, r ;
The services were held in
Quaker cemetery with the Rev.

Mrs. Winkler was the daughter
of the late General John Doby
Kennedy and Elizabeth Dunning-
ham Kennedy. In 1886 she was
married to Cornelius L. Winkler.
She was 84 years old.

She was active in club affairs
in New York, particularly as a
member of the Carolina Society

She is survived by two daugh
ters, Mrs. Sherman Woodward of
Greenwich, Conn., and Mrs. Rob
ert Wessman of Port Washington,
N. Y.; one son, John Kennedy
Winkler of New York City; one
brother, Albert Edward Kennedy
of Bettyneck plantation; one sis
ter, Mrs. J. C. Cureton of Chester;
and several grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
