Picnic Enjoyed By
Garden Club Members
On Monday afternoon, June 13,
about 25 members of the Camden
Garden Club enjoyed its annual
picnic and outing. This year the
place of meeting was at K
Park, which is 1
was at Kershaw
located about ten
miles north of Camden on High
few
way 1. The park is one of the few
remaining efforts " of this kind
which were constructed by WPA
labor. It is beautifully situated on
a wooded knoll sloping in all di
rections. Many fine young hard
wood trees, as well as pines,
abound, and the underbrush is
kept well cleared away. An at
tractive pavilion, floored with
brick, offers excellent shelter.
There are several outlets of run
ning water in protected spigots,
and a number of grills for out
door cooking are scattered about
the hill.
The Garden Club is planning to
develop an inviting entrance
which will attract the attention
of tourists and local people so
that they ma^ enjoy the‘pleas
ures afforded by this lovely spot.
No business was taken up, and
the entire afternoon was given
over to picnicing and exploring.
This was the last meeting of the
club until September.
