There are many reports in circulation is to rental
prices being demanded by home and apartment own
ers of the city. Some of these reports are, of course,
wildly exaggerated but, unfortunately, there seekis to
be some ground for others.
Camden had such a fine record Apr moderate ren
tal charges all during ths war that me United States
government never found it necessary to place this city
or county undsr rent control. Even when tie city was
crowded because of the aviation school , here, the
people were reasonable with their prices for rooms,
apartments and homes. 1..
It woold be 4po bad if this record for fairness
should be spoiled ttsw whan there is again a demand
for rooms, apartmMp and houses because of the com
ing of a large indiWial enterprise to the dty.
The people who are coming here to build this
plant are not the > owners of the plant They are em
ployees, men who work for a living the same as count
less other people do. They have to Hve on salaries the
same, as other working people do. They are not any
more able nor will thov be a«ur more willing to pay
exorbitant rents than <h§ people of Camden are.
These people naturally will prefer to IWe in Cam
den if they can get apartments and rooms find houses
at reasonabla rates, but th<
