Barbara Ann Gordon celebrated
her tenth birthday with a party
given by her mother, Mrs. Harold
Shirley, Wednesday afternoon at
3 o’clock. Caps of pink and blue
crepe paper were given to each
child as they entered the room.

this city and Morris Glenn
Humphrey of Cassatt were mar
ried Friday night, November 5, at
the parsonage of the Hermitage
Baptist church. Rev. Paul Webb
officiating.
The bride, an attractive bru
nette, was attired in a grey suit
with green and white accessories.
Her corsage was of white rose
buds. ,
Mrs. Humphrey is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Rodgers of
this city. She received her educa
tion in the Camden schools.
Thejpoom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. FT C. Humphrey of Cassatt
and received his education in the
Bethune school. He is now em
ployed with Seastrunk Electric
Co., of Columbia^
Those attending were: Miss
Doris and Lucy Lee Humphrey,
sisters of the groom, and Jack
Sharpe.
The young couple is making
their home In Camden.

The board of stewards of the
Lyttieton Street Methodist church
were entertained at dinner at
their regular monthly meeting on
Tuesday evening, the hosts being
H. H. Pooaer, H. B. Littlejohn, X
D. Zemp and Harold Booker. Din
ner was prepared and served by
Mrs. Pooser, Mrs. Littlejohn and
Mrs. Booker.
The Pooeer home on DeKalb
street was beautifully decorated
with autumn flowers and the din-
in gtable was centered with a
large pumpkin and fruit depicting
the Thanksgiving theme.
Twenty-eight of the stewards
with Rev. Hubert Spell were pres
ent at the delightful affair.
Bridge Clubs Meet
The members of the Thursday
Afternoon Contract Club met last
week with Mrs. Lindsay Pierce,
N. Mill street. Substituting for ab
sent members were Mrs. H. A.
Small and Mrs. H. D. Adams.
High score prize was won by
Mrs. John Stover and the hostess
served delicious refreshments at
the conclusion of the card game.

announces that there will be a
flower show next spring.
Entrants will not be limited to
members of the Garden Club, but
anyone interested is invited to ex
hibit. No specific plans have been
made as yet, but the general

Billy Miller Honored On
Birthday With Party

The attractive invitations is
sued by Billy Miller to his birth
day party on last Friday afternoon
were in the form of snap shots of
the young host taken in front of
the home of his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Wm. T. Miller, 406 Laurens
street, and taken with his black
board beside him. The invitation
was written on the blackboard
and read, “Come to my birthday
party Friday, November 12th, at
4 P. M^ at Thomas Tavern.” Over
30 of Billy’s playmates accepted
his kind invitation and had a
glorious time with his birthday
presents. ’
Later in the afternoon ice cream
was served and the beautifully
decorated birthday cake was cut
and passed.

til 6 o’clock and a tea course was
served from a beautifully appoint
ed table in the dining room. The
tea service was presided over by
Mrs. Moylan DuVaL and Mrs.
Henry Beard, Sr., and Mrs. Deas

ber 14 with a dinner given by

of Cassatt, Miss Willie B. Rodgers
of Lancaster and Mr. and Mrs.
Eddie Hornsby, Jr.; of this city.
Her birthday cake was white
trimmed with blue. She received
