The wedding of Miss Hilda Bfllxa-
beth Owena, daughter of Mr, and
Mra. Irln Ross ^Owens of this city
and Thomas Robert Payne, son of
Mr. and Mrs. WUllam Robert Payne
of Charlotte, took place at the
First Baptist church of Charlotte
Saturday afternoon at 5 o’clock, Dr.
C. C. Warren officiating.

Henry Thieling, organist, and
Frederick Hedrick of Chapel Hill,
vocalist, presented a' prorgam of
wedding music.
The bride was given away by her
father, while Joseph D, PAyne of
Greenville was the best man. Ush
ers were Phil Hedrick of Chapel
Hill and Herbert Minnie of Char
lotte.
The bride was'gowned in white
faile with sheer marquisette, yoke
ap^lqued with flowers embroidered
in seed pearls and with a -fitted
bodice. The long sleeves ended in
points and the full skirt extended
into a peacock train. The two-
tiered veils of imported illusion was
edged,with lace and fell from aj
tiera of seed pearls Her only orna-|
ment was a ,lone strand of pearls
and she carried a bouquet of white
roses centered with a white orchid.
Mrs. (Hyde Cobb of Westvllle, a
sister of the bride and who was
matron of honor, wore an Ice-blue
taffeta gown with ,a sweetheart
neckline and cape sleeves, fitted
bodies and full skirt. She carried
an arm bouquet of blue shasta
daisies and in her hair were small
blue daisies. The bridesmaids were
Miss Mary Callaham and Miss
Frieda Jones. Miss Calaham wore
a pastel pink taffeta gown and Miss
JouM was attired in a pale green
taffeta creation. Both carried bou
quets of white shasta daisies and
wore small white daisies In their
hair.
.The mother of the bride was
gowned in pink silk with blac ac
cessories and she bad a shoulder
bouquet of gardenias. The mother
of the bridegroom wore a blue pas
tel shaded gown with a natural col
ored straw hat and a gardenia
