Our Kershaw Guards with their
martial tread and soldiery bearing
hiways bring a thrill to all Ker
shaw county citizens. The high
light of the occasion was, of course,
the masterly hand being of his
subject by the speaker of the aft
ernoon. Attorney John Carl West.
We sincerely hope this address will
be published iater.
An unusual feature at the close
of the exercises. Just as taps sound
ed through the trees and evening
stlUnesa, was the appearance in the
sky overhead of a pilot in a plane
from Woodrow airport who circled
the field to honor the memory of
Jack Pritchard,, the young British
flyer who lost his life while train
ing at Camden and who lies burled
in "Little Arlington." A British and
an American flag marked his grave
amid the laurel leaves of the mag
nolla. This was also a tribute to
the late generous Thomas Wood
ward, who gave the airport that
,bears bU name to Camden.
Many former residents of Cam
den and Kershaw county citizens
helped to enlarge the interested and
cooperative audience.
Miss Bessie Young, the only per
son who knows all the Confederate
graves, was again in charge of plac
ing flags thereon. M. M. Reason-
over, who places the flags of vet-
erants of Wars I and II was much
missed and Joe Jenkins, incoming
commander of the Legion, took the
Job over most successfully^,,
