McCarley, county agenL says that the Pee Dee Experiment Station at Florence reports that tho bon weevil ontlook for 1948 to jnst about as bad aa it was in 1947. There are some 2,710 boll weevils per acre this year aa compared to 2,904 weevils per acre last fall. If weather conditions are normal dur ing May, Jnne and July, the wee vil will cause serious dsmags. Mr. McCarley says that the sup ply of BHC-DDT is good now but farmers have not placed orders for for -more than 20 per cent of the total amount that is expected to be used. DDT and sulfur are in adequate supply. There will be only 4,500 tons of chlorinated cam- phene and 1,000 tons of chlordsne available in the state this season. The county agent said that all companies state that good supplies of all kinds of dusters can be had now. He advises the farmers to select and order their machines!
