er locations were being considered,
particularly one in another South
ern state.
“Therefore, it was with great rk-
Jolclng. and relief, the citi
zens of Camden le#hed that the
company had exercised options, on
900 acres of land near the city
which had been extensively sur
veyed by the corporation's en
gineers.
“For some lime it had been felt
that decision had been made in
indication to this effect, including
Camden's favor. There was every
gome right direct words, but until
the actual purchase of the prop
erty was authorized, there was stlil
an element of suspense and that
the plans might .not materialize.
Many problems had to be dissolved
in making the site selection, and
various segments of ciiy, county
and state government, and civic
.groups, have rendered such assist
ance and assurance aa was pos
sible. We are certain this coopera
tive spirit had its effect, and that
duPont was not oblivious to its
welcomie.
“The plant, on the Columbia side
of the Wa^teree, will more than

that the Camden area met these
testa is heartening. In addition to
those elements which only scien
tific inquiry can decide there was
the one of public attitude, official
and unofficial, and that dnPont
found the viewpoints satisfactory is
gratifying, since this is something
every careful business executive
wants to know about. The Camden
decision, we should add, is noT the
first evidence we have had on’ this
score.
"The State congratulates Cam
den and all who have had a share
in bringing duPont to Camden.
"But it also cbngratules duPont
on its good Judgment. We are cer
tain it will never regret the day
it decided that Camden waa the
place for this plant.”
