OPPOSES APPROPRIATION
Please allow nie to say to the
taxpayers of this country that'there
has been a bill passed by the legis
lative delegation from, this county
appropriating $35,000 for the pur
pose of building play grounds and
recreational centers for the chil
dren, of the county, $15,000 of this
amount being alloted to the city of
Camden, $15,000 to Betbune, $S,000
to Kershaw, $5,000 to Blaney, $6,000
to the balance of the county.
I wrote a letter to each member
of the delegation asking them to
give to the taxpayers of this coun
ty .the privilege of voting on this
questiondn the coming iH-imary and
let them* say whether or not they
wanted their money spent in this
way because they are the ones that
has to pay the bill.
I am opposed to appropriation
for such purpose. I thiD\ it is a
waist of money-that could be spent
in a* way that would be of more
importance to the people. Wasteful
spending of your money makes It
hard on you. If your money is spent
wisely and economically where
ne^^ and as needed, you wan’t
be burdened with ^xes to keep
your county government In opera
tion. \—
The act provides for a board of
12 persons to be appointed to carry
out fhe terms of the act. It will
take 5 mills on the assessed valua
tion of the property of the county
