Miss Harriet Ancrum of Spartan
burg whose marriage to Clarence
Ballenger will be a social event of
Saturday in Spartanburg was hon
ored on last Saturday by her uncle
and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas An
crum, who entertained informally
at-their home on Fair street follow
ing the Carolina Cup races.
Approximately 60 of the out-of-
town guests, young members of the
winter colony and numerous Cam
den people were Invited to meet
the honor guests. The Ancrums
were assisted by their daughter.

sary of their wedding with a re
ception given by their children in
the Hunt room of the Sarsfield
hotel on last Saturday night- Many
friends of the couple called during
the evening to pay their respects.
Mrs. P. L. MoCorkle and Mrs. D.
C. Hinson met the guests at the
doom and introduced them to the
receiving line which included Mr.
and Mrs. Stogner, Mrs. L. B. Hor
ton, Mrs. M. G. Hamm, Mr*. J. R.
Thompson. C. H. Stogner, Mrs. Paul
Pearce, J. E. Stogner, M. A. Stog

The table was overlaid with a
beautiful lace cloth and centered
with a three-tiered wedding cake
with a golden arbor from which
hun a golden brtl with the figure
‘^60’’ In the center. At either end
of the table were yellow tapers In
crystal candelabra. Flowers in
shades of yellow were used in
decorating the room. ,
Mrs. Uoyd Smyrle presided at
the punch bowl. Serving individual
decorated cakes, were Mrs. C. H.
StogneV, Mr*. C. O. Stogner. Jr.,
Mrs. J. E Stogner and Mrs. D. G.
Stogner.
Mr. and Mrs. Stogher were mar
ried March 27, 1298, at Lancaster.
Mrs. Stogner is the former Miss
Desda McManus, daughter of the
late J. Q. McManus and Mrs. Mar
garet Hough McManus. Mr. Stqgner
is the son of the late W. P. Stog
ner and Mi'S. Louise Small Stogner.
Mr. and Mrs. Stogner are the par
ents of 11 children, all of whom
vrere at the reception: They are:

The Baron DeKalb chapter .of the
FFA observed Father-and-Sofi night
last Friday night and a most In
teresting and creditable program,
was presented. A delightful chick-j
en supper was served In the lunch'
room, the , chickens having been!
grown by the FFA members them-
seives.
Following the dinner the chapter
held a meeting at which the two
club members who had participated
in the American Legion oratorical
contest and the FFA contest made
their epeeches.
The evening was enjoyed by a
number of visitors.

for six weeks. The course will be
held at the Episcopal Parish house

Laurens streets end will begin at
7:30 p. m., each Monday.
