A Columbia dog—Talk, a Cocker
Spaniel owned by Mary Hyatt—
took championship honors at the
12th annual Lenten dog show held
at Rectory Square last Thnrsdsy
afternoon. Doc, a pointer, owned
by Mrs. Thomas Waller Camden
and Bedford Hills, N. Y., took re*
serve honors.
The show, which was In charge
of a committee headed by Bratton
I del.oach, .son of Mr. and Mrs. John
K. delxiach, attracted a large
crowd.
In the terriers class, C. A. Cor
bett's Blackie took the blue rib
bon, Fred Wimberly’s Mike, second
honors; and Carl Reasonover’s
Butch, third honors.
In the miscellaoeous thorough
bred class, Kent Miller’s Buck took
the blue ribbon, Mr Kirby’s Jim,
second honors, and Helen Williams
Bums third. In the miscellaneous
mutt class. Dean Laird’s Susie was
first. John Landsay’s Jimmy 2nd
and Dr. Barnes' Winkle, third. In
the puppy class, Mrs. William’s
WhlskerA was first, Mrs. Shef
field’s 'Niekle second and M. B.
Burns Pip, third.
In the pointer class Doc, owned
by Mrs. Thomas Waller, scored a
blue ribbon. Bronze, owned by Mrs.
Joe Sheffield was second, and Jack,
Mrs. John Weeks, was third.
In the setter group, Captain,
owned by Miss Carol Buckley was
first, Pete, owned by Mrs. Ralph
Chase, second, and Mac, M. B.
Burns, third.
In the springer spaniel class, Mrs.
Thomas Waller’s Dick was winner
of the blue ribbon, Mrs. R*y
Wotrffe’s Dixie, took second and
Hobkirk, owned by Mrs. ohn K.
leLoach wls third.
In the cocker spaniel group.
T\lk, owned by Mrs. Hyatt of Co-
lumjbia was first, Pheebe, own
ntrt^recorded, second, and Chips,
Phpebe Whitaker, third.
In the Boykin spaniel. Winkle,
owned by Mrs. Charles Moller was
first, Joe, owned by Les Ryan, sec
ond, and Dick, owned by Red Du-
Bose, third.
Bratton deLoach’s commitee con
sisted of Sandy SavMie, BlUy Nich
olson, Bill Savage, Ida McDowell,
John Lindsay. Mary Whitaker, Paul
McDowell. John Wall, Joe WU-
Hams, William Campbell, Johnny
Zemp, Aldred Boykin and Mary
eanette Campbell.
This was the 12th showing of the
Lenton dog carnival and yearly tlie
affair has grown in excellence and
success. The project was origanated
By Dr. Maurice Clarke, late rector
of Grace church, and under the
intelligent direction attained suc
cessful heights. It has now become
one of the outstanding dog. shows
of the state.
