BY LOCAL BAR ASSOCIATION

vlcea were held for the late J.
Team Gettya. member ot the Cam
den bar who died on October 27,
1*47.
Presiding at the ceremony was

erty Hill,-was 80 years old on
Wednesday, February 25.
This four score birthday event
was duty celebrated at the home
of her daughter and In-in-law, Mr,
and Mrs. sioyce Bankhead at Ches
ter. A buffet dinner was served to

His death occurred on October 27,
1947.
"Realizing that we have lost one
of our most esteemed members the
Kershaw County Bar Association
respectfully submits the following
resolution:
"Whereas on October 27, 1947,
James Team Gettys passed to the
Great Beyond;
. "And whereas in his passing the
I Kershaw county bar has lost one
I of Its most highly respected and
I esteemed members;
I "And whereas James Team
Gejtys epitomized the virtues most
cherished by members of the bar
being a lawyer of great ability and
learning, highly honorable, con
scientious to an extreme degree,
and ardent In the Iriteiest of his
clients ^ut at the same time pos
sessing that all too rare ability
to see both sides of every contended
legal matter with the result that
he greatly served the Interest of
his clients by avoiding unnecessary
litigation through settlement of
most of the contended matters
which he handled to the benefit of
not only his clients but to the or
derly conduct of society;
"Now, ther<'fore, be it resolved
that In tho passing of James Team
Gettys the Kershaw County Bar
collectively has lost one of its most
esteemed members and individual
ly the members of the bar have
lost a cherished friend.
"Further resolved that a copy
of this memorial and resolution
W. J. Roddey, Sr, of Rock Hill,
who was a brtdemaid at Mrs. Rich
ards’ wedding; Mrs Ben Dunlap of
Sharon ^and also Mrs. Lester H
Good of Sharon.
Mrs. Richards is in splendid
health and spends much of her
time at Liberty Hill. She has nine
daughters and spends much of her
! time in visiting them about the
! state. J •
.Mrs. Richards was married on
June 12. 1888. Her husband, former
governor, died October 9, 1941.

The measure provides that these
statements are to be mailed to the
taxpayers as early in Uve year as
