One of the largest crowds of the sason is expected to
turn out for the polo game Sunday afternoon when Vir
ginia Military Institute team will battle the Camden Town-
ers at 3 o’clock at Kirkwood field.
Since the day is the birthday anniversary of George
Washington, who was also a Virginian, it will be made
the occasion for a special observance at Kirkwood field
with Mayor F. N. McCorkle giving a brief eulogy of
Washington. _
Eddie Bowers and Billy Whitehurst of Arlington and
Virginia Beach, Va., dominate the V. M. I. team. Bowers
plays the No. 3 spot, and Whitehurst the No. 4. Johnny
Hagerty, of Washington, D. C., plays the No. 1 spot and
George Ashby of Winston-Salem, N. C., plays the No. 2.
On February 14, V. M. I. defeated Cornell University,
but it has lost to University of Miami.
For Camden Sabin will be at No. 1, Carl Lightfoot at
No. 2, Fred Tejan at No. 3 and Eddie Tejan at No. 4

Although beer revenue declined
sharply for the month of D^emben
state tax commission recordf
showed today that Kershaw coun
ty received 1293.30 from the state
for its share of taxes on the bev
erage for December.
Tax commission records also
showed that in the present fiscal
year since July 1, that Kershaw
county and tbe others In South
Carolina had received 1192,350
from the beer tax and that in
corporated towns had gotten |220,-
011 in the six-month period.
