Be It ordained by Mayor and Cooncilmen
ot the City of Camden in council assembled
that:
ARTICLE 1
Master and Journeymen Plumbers
L Plumbers to be examined.
2. Board of examiners.

Section 1. Plumbers To Be Examined:
No person, firm or corporation shall engage
In or carry on the buelneBe or trado of
plumber either as master plumber or Jour
neyman pinmber In the City of Camden
without first having obtained a license from
the Clerk A Treasurer authorising him,
them or it to engage In and arry on said
buslnesa or trade. And luch license will be
issued only after such plumber has paesed a
satisfactory examination as to his fitness to
conduct such business or trade! Provided,
lowever, the master plumber who baa here
tofore been licensed In the City shall at
the deacretlon of the Board of Eixamluws

a renewal license la laaned.
S Sec. 2. Board of Ehcamlners, How Ap
pointed and Duties: 'There ehall be a board
of plumbing examiners consisting of three
members, one of whom shall be the plumb
ing Inspector of said City; the second mem
ber shall be a master plumber with not less
than tour years experience; the third mem
ber shall be the Supt. of Municipal Utilities
as ex-offlclo chairman. In ^he event of a
vacancy on said hoard'caused by the death,
resignation, or removal from office, tho vac
ancy shall be filled by appointment by City
Council, and said appointee shall hold office
for the unexplred term of hla predecesor.
After organization, said board of examiners
shall, as soon as poaalhle, designate the
time and place tor the examination of nil
persons desiring to secure a certificate as
herein provided. Bach applicant shall be
compelled to pass inch examinatlona as to
his qualifications at anch board may direct;
■nch examination shall be made In whole
tract within a reasonable time. It shall be
the duty of the plumbing Inspector to notify
said plumber ot hla defanlL and aald work
or contract must be carried on expeditiously

Sec. 9. Permit Required for Installation
of Plumbing: Before work upon the instal
lation or alteration of any plumbing or
plumbing fixtures in any building Is com
menced. a permit therefor must be secured
from the City Office. Said permit will be
issued to a master plumber only who Is li
censed in the- City of Camden or bit au
thorized representative, and be mast make
application therefor in writing and pay the
proper fee as set forth In other sections of
thli article.
Sec. 10. Application for Permits—What to
Contain; Applications for permits Sii pro
vide for In the preceding section must be
made In writing. Every such application
shall give the exact location of the prop
erty, the name of the owner, and'the name
of the person employed to do the work, and
shall be made on a blank to be fumiahod by
the city office for that purpose. No permit
shall be deemed to authorize anyt'hlng not
stated In the application, and If there be
any mlastatements In such application the
plumbing Inspector Is hereby anthoiired to
suspend the offending pinmber * from pro
ceeding further under his license for such
period as said inspector may think proper;
Provided, However, that such period of sns-
ranaion shall not be for a longer time than
thirty (SO) 4ays nnlesa It appears to tho
Inspector that such mlarepresentations are
good condition until such time as the City
njay again assume upkeep of the same.

der to safeguard the public All anch work
shall be planned and executed In such a
manner that no Injury ihall occur to any
public sewer or to any drain connected'

oughly tamping, shall be subject to the ap

Sec. 17. Fees Required For Water Taps:
Before work upon any water connection to
a City water main Is commenced, and be
fore a permit Is granted for same, the

Municipal Utilities:

and cut offs found defective shall be re
moved. All water pipes free from point of
meters to honse, Including mains In the
house, both hot and oold pipes, shall not be
leas than three quarters of an Inch Inside
diameter and shall be of galvanized steel—
brass or copper may be nsed. Drains and
cut offs shall be provided so aa to thorough
ly drain the entire system when cut off,

Sec. 22. Claasee of Pipe To Bo Used In
Oertain Cases: Standard east Iron soil pipe
and fittings of like type may be used for
all soil, wsste, vent, or Idader pipes, ex
cept as otherwise provided under these
rules. Extra heavy cast Iron soil pipe and
fittings of like type shall be used for all
soli and waste plpea wherever a building
exceeds three stories In height. Lead pipe
may be used for wfste or vent pipes. All
bends or intersections shall be at angles
corresponding to sanitary T’a Y’t 1-16 or
1-8 bends. All Joints shall be wiped in a
workmanlike manner, and all connections
of lead pipe with either cast or wrought
iron pipe must be made with brasa ferrules
of the same else as the receiving opening
and., be connected to the same by a wiped
Joint, and be properly calked with Oakum
and molten lead. Brass pipe may be used'
for wastes and water pipes, provided the
fittings used be of the same material. Brass
tubing may be need for extenalons from
traps, provided the extension be at least

in direction on the waste side shall be
made by means of brass solder ella. Branch

"Leaders” are pipes which carry off|
storm wastes from root to store sewer,
yard or street,
"Bnildlng" is an architectural structure
covered by one roof and enclosing walls
built Into any brick, stone or concrete wall,
except for pasage throngh snch wall. When
necessary to conceal such pipes, they most

pipe passes through any foundation, wall
or partition, the surrounding spaqe shall
bo filled with the same material of which
the foundation, partition, or wall is eon*
