J, P, Chick, manager of the Rock
Hill field office, who announced
at the same time ^that a special
call is being issued to workers and
former workers who have reached
the age of 65 to help them protect
their full social security benefit
rights.
Any person covered by the So
cial Security Act may file his
claim at age 65 even though he is
btill working, according to Mr.
Chick. Of course, the eligible wage
earner may not receive benefits
while he is working in a Job cov
ered by the Social Security pro
gram. But by filing application be
ran prevent any possible less of
'benefits In the future. If he keeps
putting off making a claim, he may
lose some monthly payments to
which he would otherwise be en
titled.
“So important is this matter
that we not only invite, but urge
all workers in private industry
and business establishments—those
who have done some work under
Social Security—to come and see
us,” Chick said.

Tuesday evening at the home of
her mother, Mrs. C. C. Pate, in
honor of Miss Drucllla Ratcliff, a
bride of Saturday. Guests were
greeted at the door by Mrs. Schult
man and Miss Ratcliff. Mrs. Richard
Jacobs had charge of the re.gister
and pinned miniature bags of rice
on each guest. Bingo and contests
were enjoyed during the evening.

Bruce Littlejohn, has also been
mentioned as a possible candidate.
But Speaker Littlejohn has given
few indications of his future plans,
and neither he nor Rep. Tom Pope
of Newberry, who has been men
tioned, have been doing a great
amount of politicing over the
state.
“Gen. Litlejohn is a voteran
of four years of European service
in the last war, ^fter which he
was made War Assets administra
tor—serving one and a half vears
and resigning last Novembe'-. He
is a native South Carolinian. The
younger Littlejohn serve six years
in the House before entering the
armed forces and was elected
speaker one year ago tomorrow.
“The death of Dr. James Mc
Leod took a powerful figure out
of gubernatorial speculation for
1950, and there is at this time a
comparative scarcity of standout
