what was undoubtedly one of the
Eagles’ toughest games. Other out-

Tigers B. Nelson, O. Thompson and
M. Cooper. In the first quarter both
teams were held scoreless.
In the first few minutes of the

play Brewer got away for a 31
yard run to the Camden I and
from there Babson went over 'for
the maricer.
Camden, aftei^ the start of the
fourth period, started to cUck. Cox.
ihUderson and Carlton carried the
ball to the 44 and it was then tut
Cox broke away for a dash to the
Charleston 24. He fumbled as be
was tackled with Tillman of the
Blue Devils recovering.
North Charleston drove back al
most to midfield where Plgott at
tempted a pass which was inter
cepted by Skinny Melton of fhe
Bulldogs. He returned to the 40.
Banner then went to the Charles
ton 2&. Cox went for a yard and
then, while trying to pass, lost 5.
Then, with but two minutvs of
playing time remaining, and with
the ball on the Charleston 30, Cox
passed to Barmer, who took the
ball on the run and scored.
Some 1,500 Camden fans mftde
the 74 mile Jaunt to Orangeburg
to witness the game. North C!har-
leaton followers, with visions of
another high scoring spree by the
Blue Devils, were given a neat
trimming by Camden adherents.
The Camden band scored top
honors of the evening, drawing
roars of applause between halves,
as they executed intricate maneu
vers on the field.
The title game was one of the
best high achool grid tussels ever
staged on a South Carolina rrld-
J>H)n. As one well-known college
coach, who was an Interested spec
tator remarked, “In ten game be
tween those teams each would win
live, they are that closely match-
od."
Camden fans, and members of
the Bulldog squad. Insist that the
safety which Camden claimed, was
due them. It will forever remain
a mooted question. Players declare
tlje ball was ten Inches or more
in the end tone. However, the
referee placed it on the one foot
line.
