descended on the Camden Bulldog
football team in the game at Lan-
CMter last Monday night.
While the Bulldogs, state title
bound, romped over the luckless
Lancaster outfit 40 to 0, the team
lost two and probably four play
ers for the grueling tilt against
Spartanburg Friday night.
Donald Morrison, lanky left
tackle of the Bulldog team, went
out of the game In the early min
utes, when his shoulder was dis
located. Frank Horton, a reserve
guard, also suffered a shoulder
dislocation. Both of these young
sters sre through with the sport
this season and will watch the
Spartanburg game from the bench.
Jimmy Team suffered a bad knee
injury while Jimmy Cox had his
ankle twisted.
To cap the climax. Miss Vera
McCaskill, one of the attractive
majorettes with the Camden High
School band, w-as taken violently
ill during the game and was rush
ed to the Camden hospital iu an
auto where an emergency opera
tion to relieve a swollen appendix
was performed.
It was a worried and perplexed
Lindsay Pierce, Camden coach,
who discussed the prospects of s
victory over Spartanburg Friday
night. “With Morrison and Horton
both lost to us, and Team and Cok
badly crippled, we are going to be
hard put to check those Spartans.’’
ho said.
Pierce declined further comment
on a title clash with North Char^
leaton. stating that bis Job right
now was to win the game over
Spartanburg. "There isn’t anything
definite on a title game and cer
tainly we haven’t even thought of
where one would be played,’’ he
added. “The Idea of playing a game
for the March of Dimes fund
sounds all right but I believe that
charity begins at home. We have
need of money for additional equip
ment and to use in building up
our field.’’

five-day teacher instttnte of driver
education and training at the USC
next week, according to President
Norman M. Smith.
Fifty-eight public school officials

five-day program. The institute is
sponsored by the nniversity exten
sion division, the state highway
department and the Junior Cham
ber of Commerce.

County Tuberculosis association is
asking support for its 1J48 pro
gram,’’ said Douglas Montgomery,
.tresidont. “We believe that every
citizen In Kershaw county will
agree that our programs for case
finding and health education, as
they have been conducted through
your generosity of last year, have
helped to make our coun’y a
wealthier place in which to live
and rear our children.’’
Pledging an equally active pro
gram through 1948, Mr. Mont
gomery said that It was with every
confidence In the support of every
citizen that this, year’s Seal Sale
goal was set for $3,800.00.
Mrs. George Creed, county seal
sale chaJnqan, reminds us that
“Elghty-flve per cent of all money
invest^ in the seal sale remains
here in Kershaw county and works
for all of us all year long.’* She
further states that from the remain
ing 15 per cent, the county gets
vailuable service from the state and
National Tuberculosis associations,
and that also through this same
15 per cent is given the privilege
of participating In Nation’s pro
gram of Tuberculosis Resea.'ch.
The 1947 seal was designed by
Raymond H. Lufkin, of Tenafly,
N. J., nationally known ^free-lance
artist, typographer and iliusirator
of children’s books. During World
War II he won a special citation
from the treasury department for
his war bond posters. _

Dr. George Brunson, of State
Park, was in Camden Wednesday,
November 12, to conduct the month
ly X-ray clinic. As usual, he was
accompanied by Mr. Carter, X-ray
technician of the state department
of health.
This was the largest revular
clinic which has ever been conduc
ed In Kershaw county. 112 per
sons were Guoroscoped and 15 were
X-rayed. 'The clinician’s services

Men Are Wanted
The South Carolina Area Trade
School, which is now teaching 175
boys and girls useful vocaJons,

George W. Fricks, principal of
the school which is located a*, the
C.apital airport, near Columbia, said
that a course In watch repairing
would be started in December pro
vided a suitable instructor could be
secured. He is now taking applica
tions for the instructor's position
and f<d’ new students desiring the
course.
Another new -course will be bar-
berlng which is to begin February
S at the start of the school’s sec
ond semester. An instructor in this
course has already been employed.
