Rosa May Clark, l^^rearold col ored gtrl of the Cassatt section, was struck by a car driven by J. D. Swearingen of San Francisco, Calif, on U. 8. Highway No. 1 at Cassatt Tuesday afternoon. Both her right arm and leg were frac tured and she was badly lacerated. Her condition is regarded as ser ious. Joe Sheffield is winner of the President’s Cup golf event, defeat ing Mills AUen Sunday, 4 and S, at the Camden Country club. Both, Sheffield and Allen were evenly matched but Sheffield took an early lead and maintained'It un til the 16th hole when the match ended. Alien played beautlfnl golf, but he never was able to catch up with the brilliant play of ShemeM. ’Sheffield’s score for the 18 holes was 77 and AUen carded an 88. To reach the finals Sheffield had to eliminate such outstanding golfing luminaries as Sam Boykin, Boh Bruce. Albert Ooodale and Joe McKain, while Allen disposed of T,' V. Hough. Morty MuUer. The two story dwelling was damaged to the ex tent of $7,600 while house gobda, fumliblngs and personal effects sustained a $3,600 plus loss. Partial Inmiranoe was carried by Mr and Mrs. Thomas on the house sild con tents. The fire was a spectacular one and attracted a large throng of spectators to the scene. The fire department, quick to respond to the summons, at 10:80 a. m., ptrared tons of water on the Uaslng build ing. The entire second story snd roof were destroyed while smoke and water damage was severe on the first floor. The Thomas dwelling was at one time a part*of the Kirkwood hotel group. It WM a well constmeted building and when purchased by Mr. snd Mrs. Thomss a year or so ago, considerable Improvements and remodeling were carried out.
