Everything from reckless driving,
skipping red lights, speeding
through wrecking of a motor pole,
gambling, disorderly conduct and
plenty of drunkenees kept the Cam
den blue coats in a lather of ac
tivity over the weekend.
The police docket showed that
Ernest If. Ogle, arrested by Pstrol-
man Seep Shebeen for 8i>eedlng,
reckless driving and running a red
traffic light, deposited $62 as bond
for his appearance In recorder's
courL
James E. Harr^, charged by
Patrolmen SmyrI and ‘Clybum In
hitting a meter standard, deposited
a |5 bond. Disorderly conduct
charges with |27.50' bond deposits
were filed against James Clark,
Murdock Williams. J. T. Ray and
Junior Melton, while Herbert Wil
liams, Jr., arrested with ' being
drunk and guilty of disorderly con
duct, was assessed 127.50.
$12 bond was required from
George Harris, Sbnny Boy Halle,
As the result of many complaints
regarding reckless driving and
speeding the police are bearing
down on offenders.
It cost Quay A. Williford. Jr., $5
when Patrolman Buford Hancock
and Seep Shebeen caught him cut
ting a corner at the Confederate
monument Intersection.
And Simon Halle paid a $2 fine
tOr disregarding a stop sign. He
was stopped by Patrolman Stanley
Rose.

mer pastor of the Lyttleton Street
Methodist church here and now
pastor of Bethel Methodist church
of Walterboro and past grand mas
ter of Masons, has been confirmed
as assistant to the grand secretly
of the Grand Lodge of-Anclent
Masons of South Carolina.
Col. A. J. M. Wannamaker of
Orangeburg, grand master, who an
nounced the confirmation of Mr.
Collins as assistant to Grand Secre
tary O. Frank Hart, said that Mr.
Collins will enter the services of
the grand lodge on November 1 and
that hia headquarters will be in
Mr. Hart’s offices In Columbia.
In addition to these duties, Mr.
Collins will continue as fraternal
correspondent, a position he has

South Carolina conference.
Mr. Collins, son of the late M. C
and Olive Matthews Collins of
I-ake City, was educated In the
public schools of Florence^ county.
He entered In the Infantry In 1915
and was honorably discharged as
second lieutenant In 1919. He par
ticipated In teh major engage-1
ments In France and was commis
sioned as a result of recommenda-
llou for services In action.
After leaving the army, he en
tered Cumberland university and
leceived his LLR degree In 1922.
He then entered the law firm of
A. H. Williams of Lake City and
Florence and was admitted to the
South Carolina Bur tn the spring
of 1923.
In the fall of the same year he
I entered the ministry of the Meth
odist church iB which he will cob-
chide 24 yeatrs of serrlce this fttll.
Ha has served pastorates at Beula,.
Clio, Latta. Georgetown, Charles
ton, Camden and Walterboro. His
theological training was completed
at Ehnory university in 1927.
Mr. Collins has been active In
Masonry sinco 1924 serving in var
ious rapacities in the grand lodge,
grand chapter, grand council and
grand ..commandery. In addition, he
is a past commander of the Ameri
can Legion, and past president of
Kiwanis and Rotftry clubs.
