Cunning- Dr. W. D. Grigsby has been quite ill but is now up and able to be out aome. Miss Jewel Rose has recently re turned from a motor trip with friends to the west cosat. The trip was made over a northern route to Spokane, Wash., then down the coast SB far as Long Beach. Calif., and over a Southern route back to South Carolina. Twenty-three sUtes were visited on the trip, a Jump to Meico City being in cluded. Bobby Watson, a prominent Clemson student, is going to make a trip with ten boys to visit sev eral northern colleges and uni versities. Miss Mary Hancock of Camden visited Miss Wyrisn Ross * last week. Mlsa Looiae Dickson of Belmont. N. C., spent last week with her cousin. Miss Carolyn Bowen. Ch Shaw, formerly at the head of the Camden Iron and Brass Works, was not ohly an ex pert in foundery operations, but since his rellrement. he has spec ialised in gardening. He is exhibiting a cucumber that la by no means s midget—in tact the cuke is ten inches long, 10 1-2 inches at its widest circumference and scales two pounds—enough to take care of a good-sited family. Mr. Shaw states that this is not the peak sise cuke, that he has grown, that several years ago he had one that weighed two and a half pounds.
