For the third time. Dr. Paul Tor-
ner of Meridian, Mist., ia coming
as guest speaker for a series of
revival services at the Bethnde
Baptist church. These services will
begin July 20 with services each
Evening at 8 p. m. There will be
day services Thiesday through Fri
day at 11 a. m. The congregations
and choirs of xhe several churches
in the community are expected to
combine for these services and
the public is extended a cordial
invitation to attend every service
of thtt series.
Several representatives from the
Bethune Baptist field have attend
ed the assembly at Ridgecrest re
cently. For Sunday school week
these were: Ellis Padgett. Mrs.
Beanice Hilton, Misses Louise
Gardner and Janet Hall from Be-
thune; (Prover Joyner, Mr. and Mr«.
FJdwln Ehitridge, Mrs. Ruth Parker
from Tlmrod; Miss Mabel Hilton
from Shamrock. For Training Union

The Rev. A. L. Willis of Colum
bia will assist in a revival at Sham
rock Baptist church the last week
in July. The series of services will
open with the 3:30 p. m., service
of July 27, and continue with ser
vices each evening at 8 p. m.,
through August 1. A large number
of the friends and former members
of the Shamrock church are ex
pected to help in this evangellrttc
effort.
Mr. and Mrs. Jamee Jones and
children of Wadesboro were Sun
day guests of Mr. end Mrs. James
King.
Zebnlon Morgan of Biahopvitle is
staying with his grandmother, Mrs.
Evs Morgan, while Mrs. Louie r.,ee
is visiting in Marion, 111.

is attending Winthrop summer
school, spent the weekend here

Yea, during the evening this young lady was discovered, and it
was learned that she was formerly from Wales, BIngland. She
is now the wife of W. T. Stokes, of Bethune, R-1. Mr. Stokes
was stationed wHh the 118th Infantry In B&gland for two years
and it was during this time he met his bride. Mrs. Stokes, up
on being questioned, stated she arrived in the SUtes on July
4th, 1946 . . . that the people here were very nice to her . . .
and she liked this country Just fine.
