COLUMBIA FAT STOCK SHO AND BALE On April 4, 1947, a FAt Stock Bkow and aaio^rasAeld at Conder’a bam, near Columbia. Blaney entered eight eahrea into this show. Ilxeae calves from Blan ay wero entered in the KarMi4u county show which was held an April 3, at the Camden fair grounds. Blaney exhibited the Grand Cham pion and reaerre chani^On at.Caii- dan and entered the Grand Chant pkm at Columbia bat failed to take any honora there. Blaney calves brought hign prices because of the merehanta from Kershaw county who bough* some of the ealvea and with the help of Mr. ShealM from Camden, who belfod As vefr much. The grand champion of the Co- hmbln Fat Stodt Show wad sold for |L0| par pmmd and ^ re- servo champion was sold tor 60c per pound. The grand ehaaiilen calf and re* aorve champion ciUf was exhibited In firobt of the Sfate Rouae to Co lunibla Raturday sad Sunday. The calves were graded choke, good and medium. Clajrter CampbeU. THE CAMDEN SHOW The Camden Pat Stock Show was held April 3, 1947, in Camden. All 4-H and FFA calves of Kerahaw county were shown. The show was sponsored by the Camden Chamber of Commerce. The calves with their owners paraded at 11 o’clock . from the Agriculture bulldixMT down ~bna block of main strSkL and they were led from there to the fair grounds on unpaved streets. After the calves were fed and groomed the owners were given a free dinner sponsored by the Cam* den Chamber of Commerce. There were several speakers, Mr. Hawkins, Mrs. Watts, Mr. Shealey of Camden, Mr. Tonng, Blaney ag- ricnlture teacher, and several others. After dinner the boys returned to wash and groom the calves. At 2 o’clo^ the calves were marched onto the football field to be judged. The prises were awarded as fol lows; First prise of flOU to Andrea Brown of Blaney, second prise of $96 to Kenneth Moore of Bleaoy Other prisee were also awarded to 4-H cluhe end FFA members. After the show, tho calves-were taken to Conder’e bam, near Oo> InaiMa, for the Fat Stock Show and sale which wee to be held on April 4, 1947. Ifarvia Campbell.
