Story
The Chronicle adTertisins scored
heavily in the opinion of H. H. Mad
dox, owner and manager of the
Camden -Food Shop.
In last / week’s issue of the
Chronicle, the Food Shop carried a
fnll page'advertisement of a storo-
wide sale on groceries, meats, etc.
The result of the, advertising is
best told in Mr.,. Maddox’s own
words when he States, "It was far
above our greatest expectations and
oor sales were double the amount
of any previous event of the kind."
Mr. Maddox went on to state
that the unusually low prices that
featured the merchandise was not
Just a sale figure but would be con
tinued in the future.
—The combination of advertising
space, leaflets and low prices
proved a winner to the Food Shop

This old family mansion has juSt
been presented to the Protestant
Episcopal diocese of South Carolina
to be used as diocesian headquar

from the executvie council of the

A Charleston story in recounting
the gift ceremony says in part:

This CoIIard Plant
Really Ambitious
John Mickle, who has a farm on
Route 3 oiit of Camden, has a plant
that has excited much curiosity
and comment on the part of all
who have seen it.
The plant grew in a collard patch
on the farm and might be classed
as a collard cabbage plant. There'
are some thirty cabbage heads on
the plant, which has but one stalk.
It is estimated that a pound of.
honey represents the life work of;
about 1,000 bees. i
