Mr. and Mrs. M. C. McCaskiU and children of Charleston were recent guests of Mrs. Cope McCaskili. In connection with the Presby terian Foreign Mission study, ”In- dla,” a picture taken by E. T. Mel ton, Jr., of Bennettsville while in service in India, was shown M<m- day evening in the Presbyterian church. Mr. and Mrs. June Truesdell spent Sunday in Bennettsville with Mrs. Truesdell’s parents,. Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Melton. E. T. Melton, Jr., accompanied them home Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Mitchell are spending this week in New York City. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Jones an nounce the arrival of a daughter, Marilyn Christine, January 14. The home of Hugh Thompson was consumed by fire about mid day Monday. Only a few articles were saved as the house burned rapidly which was fanned by the high wind. A kerosene heater in the bath room is thought to have exploded the fire. The house has recently had many improvements made. It was partially covm’ed by insurance. Driwe Carefullj—Saw* a Llfa Clifton Branham Dies After Hlness Of Four Months Clifton B. Branham, 66, died last Ftiday morning at U o’clock at the Spartanburg general hospitpl. He had been in declining health for five months and was seriously ill one week. .. A native of Kershaw county, Mr. Branham, made his home in Colum bia for a number of yearst before moving to Pauline four years ago. He was a carpenter and farmer and was a member Of Pinegrove Baptist church in Kershaw county. Mr. Branham's second wife, Mrs. Ada Branham, survives hlmr His first wife, the late Mrs. Elisabeth Hinson Branham, died ^n 1924. He also leaves two daughters by his first marriage, Mrs. Nora Bell Hall of Blythewood and Mrs. Letha Smith of West Columbia, and six sons, C. T. and Robert Branham of Columbia, B. D. and C. D. Bran ham of Hopkins. L. M. Brgnham of Winnsboro and Blease Branham of Lugoff. A daughter. Miss Corrle Bell Branham, survives by his sec ond union. Another son. Langford Branham, was killed in action in the European theater in 1944. Other close relatives are three sisters, Mrs. Conie Davis and Mrs. Louis Watts, both of Columbia, and Mrs. Zack Bowen of Blaney; two brothers, L. T. Branham of Cam den and D. D. Branham of Colum bia; also a number of grandchil dren, nieces and nephews. Fhineral' services were held from the Killian Baptist church Sunday with Intecment in the church ceme tery. N. C., were conducted at noon Monday from All Saints Epis copal church, Waccamaw, near Pawley’s Island by the Rev. S. Thomas. Bnrtal followed In the church cemetery. Mrs. Carleson died suddenly late EYlday night at New Berp. She was the former Mias Margaret Ancrum, daughter of Captain and Mrs. Wil liam Ancmm of Waverly Plfmts- tion, Pawleys Island, abd formerly of (iamden.
