being given a thorough face-lift
ing both on the interior as well as
outside. ■
The front of the store is being
painted in the well-known Goodrich
colors of cream and blue. The
present large sign on the building
will be replaced later with a new
and modern sign.
The Economy store has been
managed by W. R. Nelson for the
past seven years, he etarting the
venture in 1939. ^lor to that time
Mr. Nelson was Identified with the
Chevrolet garage here.
The store handles a complete
line of auto accessories, electric
appliances, toys, radios, lawn tools,
etc.
Temperature In
Drop To 30 Degrees
Wednesday, November 18, found
the mercury hitting the lowest
nurk of the fall season, when it
sank to 30 degrees, two under frees-
ing.
All outdoors was coated with a
white mantel of frost On Tuesday
the temperature reading was 39
and on Friday it was 37.

Mr. and Mrs. J. Horton of Ker
shaw, CD route to Columbia be
tween Camden and Columbia to
visit their daughter, collided with
another vehicle which was passing
a truck and sustained severe in
juries, for which they were treated
in the Camden hospital.
The accident was unavoidable,
according to reports of circum
stances, from the Horton's point
of view.
Mr. Horton sustained a broken
leg and numerous cuts and bruises,
while Mrs. Hofton was thrown into
the windshield and was severely cut
about the fhee and arms. It waa re
ported that 150 stitches were re
quired and that surgeons worked
continuously for two and a half
hours treating the couple.

Dies Suddenb
Howard Lewis Thrower, age 49,
died suddenly at hla residence at
608 Lafayettd Avenue.
Deceased was bom in Blaxton,
N. C., March 28, 1897, son of the
late John P. Thrower nd Mrs, Mar
garet E. Thrower, For 21 years he
made his home here following the
trade of an auto mechanic. He
served during World War I in the
USN.
Funeral services were held from
the Kornegay Funeral home at 8
p, m., Thursday, Rev. J. B. Caston
officiating. Interment was in the
Damascus Methodist church ceme
tery at Weatville.
He is survived by his widow
Mrs. DeLlesneline Bell Thrower.
Camden; one son. Pvt. Howard
(Billie) Thrower, U. S. Marines;
his mother, Mrs. Margaret E.
Thrower, Richmond, Va.; two sis
ters, Mrs. Bertha Goodman, Rich
mond. Va^ and Mrs. Howard Jones
Cincinnati, Ohio, and one brother,
Luther _B. Thrower, Cincinnati,
