Another improrement noted on
this part of ^oad street is the
renovating of the Carolina Motor
company filling station. The entire
front extending from the storage
building to the grease and wash
racks has been repainted. A new
Pnrol sign is being installed at the
curb line.

Drenching rains and high winds,
outriders of the hurricane that
swept across Florida Tuesday held
Camden in an unpleasant grasp
from a late hotjir Monday until
Wednesday morning.
Rainfall in that period was the
heaviest it has been in Camden in
sometime. The rain was acoom
panied by driving gales of wind
that tore off branches from trees
and damaged store signs.
At times the rain appeared to be
horizontal because of the gusts of
wind and as a result hundreds of
Camden homes suffered from leak
ing doors. Families were awakened
in the early hours Wednesday when
drops of water began to seep
through cracks In ceilings. There
was an immediate rush for dish
pans and whatever receptacles that
were available.
The Intensity of the rain and
wind was noted Tuesday afternoon
as slowing subsiding as the storm

A big-mouth black bass scaled 10
pounds , and 11 ounces, while an
other bhss weighed three and a half
pounds.
Mr. Baker exhibited the catch to
many interested nlmrods in Cam
den Thursday.
Boyd Faulkenberry
Of Kershaw Passes
Boyd Faulkenberry, 62. of N^r-
shaw county, died last Sunday at
his home after a long Illness.
Funeral services were conducted
at 4 o’clock Tuesday afternoon from
Bethany Baptist church by his pas
tor,, the Rev. Clyde J^lnn. Burial
follow^ in the cborch cemetery.
Mr. Faulkenberry is survived ,by
three brothers, W. W. and H. C.
Faulkenberry of Kershaw and J. E.
Faulkenberry of King, N. C.

cepted the invitation of W. H.
Harth. director in charge of the
South Carolina recreational unit to
be one of the speakers at the clinic
to be held at the Jefferson hotel hi
Columbia on November 18.
In addition to making an address
the Camden executive will also
make the presmitation of Dr. Qarold
Meyer, director of the North Caro
lina recreational department.
The South Carolina meeting will
be in session November 18 and 14
with banquet, ts be held on Nor em
ber 13. -

Sunday, September 88, at his home
on the Winnsboro road, were hMd
at 4 p. m. on October 1 from the
Talbmrt Funeral home.
The Rev. L. O. PaynaT pastor oif
the Bau Claire Bapciri church, of
ficiated, assisted by the Rev. J. B.
Caston of Camden. Interment was
in Elmwood cemetery.
Active pallbearers were: Herbert
Moore, T. C. Lomas. George Hoover,

B. Taylor.
