most adequate from two points: (1st)
Active i;teacher participation In tha
health Inapectlon and follow-up pro
gram, and (2nd) a cumnlatlra’health
record for every child. These forms
are ready for trial use. They will be
used during this term, but vtll be
under study for possible rerisron.
The commltteee also agreed upon
the necessary points for a wetl round
ed, well functioning health program,
which points will be kept before ail
participating workers aa the eventnal
goal. Both committees decided upon
the same points as the beginning
steps for these programs, namely:
(1) Health inspection nf a’t children
as early in the school year as pos
sible, (f) (efforts 6t teachers' and
health workers closely coordinated.
(3) active parent participation, (4)
an Intensive program for correction
of defeats through home, school,
health agencies, local profecsional
men and various county agenciee, (5)
a more comprehensive Immunisation
program, (6) disease control program
to include pupil and parent instruc
tion regarding. nature, mode of trans
mission apd^ control of specific dih
eases, (7) written policies regarding
exclusion and readmisalon of s^jck chil
dren. and of thgir emergency care
when illness develope in the schhol,
(8) use of the school lunch aa a
health education measure, (9) fre
quent committee meetings t^ guide
development •of the program, and. (10)
a "training" program for participating
teachers.
Dr. A. W. Humphries will be medi
cal director for the demonstrations.
Miss Jennie McMaster, iturse-execa-
tlve for the Kershaw County Tubercu
losis association, and county nurses
will give the nursing service.
The county tuberculosis association
has been busy all summn gathering
health books and materials from ali
over the United States. A large assort
ment of recent and outstanding ma
terials on all phases of school health
work are catalogued and ready for
use. This material will be freely
available to participating tdachen and
workers.
For the Baron DeKalb program, a
large planning committee, with par
ent members, wyi meet soon, and at
regular Intervals to help guide the de
velopment of the program. It to hoped
to develop such a committee fbr the
Pine Tree HIU program.
The teacher “training*’ eontsvences
will be held at Pine Tree Hill school
on September 9 and at Baron de Kalb
school on September 19.

Sbeom, Sr., were painfully injured
when a car they were riding in last
Saturday night got oat of control on
the Blshoprille hlgnway, and crash
ing into a ditch, was almost com
pletely demolished.
The fact that the two young men
were thrown clear of the car when it
first swerved probably oaved tbetr
lives, as Ihe machine a minute later,
had turned over and crashed into the
ditch. The Sheora youth, who is to
enter Newberry college ^thls fall,
landed on his head and face and was
badly lacerated. He was still in ths
hospital early this week. The Pmry
boy was taken to bis home in Logoff
after spending the weekend at the
hospital. He was badly lacerated on
his face and one leg.
The two young men were chasing

Sowell, who had been married earlier
