writeups. The bride, her ■ mamma,
aunts, sisters, etc., all expect to put
out a great mass of detail about what
the bride wears, etc. So much in fact,
that the poor groom hsrdlj gets any
notice at alL
Which reminds me of a story they
tell of an editor friend of mine up
in Wisconmn, who getting married, de>
termined that for once the groom was
going to get a writeup that would be
dedicated to a bridegroom’s past, pres
ent and future.

right dash of color to complement the

It won't be long now before the
pigskin will be in the sport spotlight
out at the football field. We harent
had a chance to talk football with any
of the fans since our return and with
Coach Pierce away in the North Caro
lina hills with the team, it has been
impossible to gather any data to talk
about in this column. But we do feel
that Pierce and his gang are going
to giro the Camden fans some good
sport this tall. More on this later.
Since returning to the home baili
wick we hare heard a lot about the
Camden baseball situation and there
appears to be a well defined de
termination te hare the sport on a
honest-to-goodness organized basis an
other'season, ikhd by the word ’’or
ganisation”, we mean Just what Dan-
jx Wehetnr sgyjL liLitsnde for,.There
should be a club or unit formed to
opmrate the ball club—we refer, of
coarse to the Palmetto league team.
’That orgadisatlon should arrange to
secure financial backing. ’The officers
or directors or whatever you may call
the men who wiU decide all Issues,
should secure a team manager who
can command the respect and al
legiance of the club personnel.
’There isn’t a doubt in our mind
but that there is plenty of talent
available for a Camden team that will
make a good showing in a league
schedule. It Just requires organisa
tion.
And the same thing goes for the
league program. Frankly, the opera
tion of the Palmetto loop the past
season was a Joke. ’There Jui^ wasn’t
any organisation. It was impossible
to maintain an accurate record from
week to week of team standings and
as for batting and fielding averages,
so far as we Imew, no records were
kept by teams or the league. Statis
tics on batting and fielding are al
ways of interest to the fans.
