arrangement of nandina and Miss
Ethel Yates 1 white. Miss Jane
Swords won a calendar for the best
in the nTlscellaneous'class. Her offer
ing was done fn blue and green'under
. glass. Mrs. W. M. Whitakr was second
and Mrs. Deas Boykin third.
Honorable mention was awarded

arrangement, disqualified, however,
because it was dver the specified
height for the class; honorable men
tion to Marion Burke for a pine cone
in -the scales of which .bluettes were
growing, to Mrs. Allison DuBose for
a vigorous arrangement of thorn
orange in a glazed bowl, and to Mrs.
Vllleplgue for arranging fruits. -
Counting three points for a blue
ribbon, two each for a red and an
honorable mention and one for a
white ribbon,. Mrs Vllleplgue took
'sweepstakes prize and the club's silver
cup. Mrs. Pitts and Mrs. Guion tied
for second place. *
Tea, cakes, sandwiches and puifch
were served in the drawing rooms of
the inn. Mrs. L. I.'Guion, president
of the Federated Garden Club,

“Son of the. late Herman Barnch
and Deborah Sampson Baruch, Man-
nes Baruch wga hprn in Camden No
vember 3. 1877, and after living sev
eral years in Charlotte and *New
York, returned to his native town to
enter into business with Mr. Mannes
Raum, and later with Mr^ John
Netties. For over forty years^e was
one of Camden’s most e8tee|ieil bus
iness men and ditisens.

urer of the Hospital Board of Direc
tors for thirty-two' years, was Busi
ness Manager for 'seven years, and
for five years devoted hims.elf to the
active supervision of the Institutton
until his sudden death.

the passing of Mr. Baruch the insti
tution has lost a devoted and faithful
officer and helpful friend and ad
