The March meeting of the United
Daughters of the Confederacy met In
the hdmb'* of Mrs.. R. E. Chewnlng.
There were twelve members^ present
and one visitor.
The meeting opened with the Vice-
President, Miss Helen Phelps, presid
ing in the absence of the President
Mrs. E.' C. vonTresckow. She led the
chapter In thu Lords ' prayer and
salute to the Confederate flag. The
treasurer’s report showed a balance
of 190.40. HLOO of this amount was
donated to the chapter towards mak
ing a photograph of General "John D.
Kennedy to be placed In the XJ. D.
C. Museum in Columbia.
For the program Dr. A, W. Hum-
phrles talked to the chapter on Polit
ical Medlcine.».*-He explained to the
group the bill now under disenssion
in Congress known as the Wagner-
Murray-Dingel Bill, which if passed
will give the gaverament control of
all medical attputloh for all p^ple-of
the United States. After a dlscgiision
of this we realized this bill Is not an
answer to our medical probletp. A
motion was made and passed that we
write a letter to our congressman
from the John D. Kennedy chapter
of U. D. C.'asking him to vote against
this bill.

sponsor the clinic this year receives
