Mather academy, entertoining host, won the boys championship from Avery, ClmrlMton, 30-10. But if your magic carpet waf^ ed you to the football field at Huck- gte^ several weeks ago you would have seen Jiggs Parker, captain of the state chaihpion Camden high school team of 1944, in the role of an army team that was using all the skill and tricks of a Camden-coached outfit to down a rival outfit 25 to 20. ^ You would have seen the pugna cious Jiggs blow hip top, 'you would have sron the players, the fans and the officials blow their .ops. And you would also have heard Parker; stag ing a Lippy Durocher talkfest with the referee on the receiving end—un til the official finally gave Jiggs his we^ng papers. That haf^ned in tha first half. - Between halves efforU were made to 'stage a kiss-and-make- up with Jig^ the ref., and the cap tain of the rival team taking part but it didn’t jell. So the game had to go on without the former Bulldog lead er. Seems that the team that battled the Parker gang pulled a lot of fan cy stuff in the effort to win. They had white shirts, white helmets and insisted on ueing a white ball. Smart deception wasn’t it? In a recent letter from Jiggs he states I that he is using the old foot ball formations he learned from Lind say Pierce at Camden high. Jiggs is playing the running wingbb,and the plays are really oKeking. The former Camden star wants td go back to col lege, study to be a foottell coach and have a team like Camden. A winning team, he says. Student Teams Win and He Games The basketball game played be tween the faculty teams and stu dents quintets last Friday evening in the high school gym attracted a capuity crowd of spectators. The game between the faculty dames and the student maidens re sulted in a 12 to 12 tia count. The male student team trounced the faC' ulty outfit 40 to 9. be held on Tuesday, March 19, 1941.
